Athens International Airport
Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” (AIA) started operation in March 2001 marking the onset of a new era for air transport in Greece. The new airport changed radically the image of the Greek capital and quickly developed into the most important air-hub in Southeastern Europe. Since the beginning of operations, the airport gained the trust of both passengers and airlines, while it soon earned a great number of key international awards. Today, it is regarded as one of the best and safest airports in the world and continues its steady development thanks to the constant improvement of its performance.
Athens International Airport is not only one of our key clients but a good partner as well. UFIS Airport Solutions has started with the first installation of the next generation of the UFIS® product, UFIS JB®, at Athens International Airport. The new software will go into production in 2008, replacing the daily operations of the current UFIS® installation.
The partnership of the two for this project has allowed the project team to draw on the technical expertise and years of airport software development experience of UFIS-AS with the actual user knowledge and feedback of AIA. AIA is also providing a test lab for the project.
